Jan Talian, our Director of Tennis at Raising-a-Racquet, exemplifies the pinnacle of tennis expertise and leadership. As a USPTA Elite Professional and a USRSA Master Racquet Technician, Jan brings over 35 years of experience in playing high-level tennis and specializing in racquet stringing and customization. His deep understanding of the sport and its equipment allows us to provide each client with personalized, top-tier service, ensuring they receive the best equipment tailored specifically to their needs.

Jan's impressive tennis career includes notable rankings as a junior — top 100 in singles and top 35 in doubles globally according to the International Tennis Federation. His skills and dedication led him to play number one singles and doubles at Ferris State University throughout his college career, where he not only earned four All-American honors but also held the #1 NCAA doubles ranking for two consecutive years. Jan's academic achievements in Business Marketing & Professional Tennis Management and his MS in Career and Technical Education further solidify his expertise.

Following his collegiate success, Jan served as the Junior Tennis Coordinator at New Canaan Field Club before returning to FSU as the Head Coach of the Men’s Tennis Team. His recent achievements include being a key member of the Hampton Roads team that triumphed at USTA Regionals and Sectionals, qualifying for the National Championship where they secured 11th place nationally in the most prestigious division.

Jan's dual certification as a USPTA Elite Professional and a USRSA Master Racquet Technician makes him one of only two individuals in the Commonwealth of Virginia to hold both prestigious designations as of May 2024.
